About Dykes on Bikes® London
We’re a dyke-identified motorcycle club, and one of the two official chapters of San Francisco Dykes on Bikes® WMC in the UK. We are a part of the global phenomenon that is Dykes on Bikes® founded in San Francisco in 1976.
We welcome anything with two or three wheels and an engine, from a scooter to 1600cc of muscle bike. We have a diverse range of dykes from a variety of backgrounds who all have two things in common, we are all proud dykes and love to ride our bikes.
Whether you’re a Full License or L plate, or maybe you don’t even have a bike yet.. we’d still love to have you along.
“Dykes on Bikes® Women’s Motorcycle Contingent is an organization committed to creating a local, national and international community of women motorcyclists and friends of women motorcyclists. Our mission is to support philanthropic endeavors in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and women’s communities and beyond, and reach out to empower a community of diverse women through rides, charity events, Pride events and education”. – San Francisco Dykes on Bikes® Women’s Motorcycle Contingent.
You don’t have to be a member of DOB London to attend most of our events – but it helps! Full patch members of DOB London are entitled to a range of benefits. All DOB Members are also invited to attend our member’s only camping trips, rides and weekends away.
Rides, parties, outings and visits, weekends away and international trips. DOB London has something for everyone. Everyone is invited to our community events. To see what we’ve been up to, see our News blog – or for fun things coming up, visit our Events page.
Dykes on Bikes® worldwide isn’t just about riding and having fun. It’s about riding, having fun and raising money for LGBTQI+ charities and DOB London is no exception. We collect money from our events to donate toLGBTQI+ charities chosen by our members. Our current charity for this year is the Lesbian Immigration Support Group based in Manchester.
We are all volunteers and organising our involvement in pride marches and other charitable events does cost money so, if you would like to make a donation to the club and/or our chosen charity, then please do contact our Treasurer. If you would like your donation to go towards something specific please send us an email or use our contact page.
As one of the official Chapters worldwide we are in contact with our Sistas around the globe. In 2018 two of our full members traveled to San Francisco to meet the members of the Mother Club and ride with them and Sistas from Portland, Monterey, Queensland and Melbourne Chapters at the front of the world famous San Francisco Pride.. where it all started in 1976 – see our Herstory page.
We also have very close ties with our Sista chapters Dykes on Bikes® Sussex UK and Rhein-Weser, Germany.
