21st November 2021 – ACE Cafe to a Country Bimble

Starting at the Ace Cafe for an Iconic Biker Caff to Biker Caff ride was our plan.

Even though not riding with us our Secretary Pogs, who had had a hand operation recently surprised us at the Ace! After chatting for ages we decided to cut the ride shorter as it was getting late.

Beginning by riding through the suburbs what a fantastic surprise to see a huge rainbow across the sky, fitting for a Dyke ride! We cleared the suburbs and found ourselves in majestic autumn scenery, leaves falling like rain, some lovely curves in amongst the trees and farmland. A beautiful crisp and sunny day to boot. Spontaneously stopping outside a tearoom in the middle of nowhere we found ourselves at The Country Bumpkin so decided this would be our stop. A beautiful tearoom with some rather eccentric bathroom accessories!

Again we enjoyed our chatting and found that we where still there and they had closed! So off we went to make our way home. A short and sweet ride, all the better for sweet company.

and DobZilla pulled too….

27th to 29th November – EdEWecht germany

Our Sistas in Dykes on Bikes Rhine-Weser over in Germany had the grand opening of their clubhouse on the 27th. Only Pogs was able to make her way over to represent London at the festivities. This was all done in secret, under penalty of death should the secret leak out to the German grrrls.

Taking the overnight ferry via Harwich to the Hoek van Holland I arrived at dawn to a beautiful view.

A little bit chilly, but dry at least. I then made my way via the quickest route to cross over the border into Germany and on toward Edewecht. On my arrival, Dori, the President of Rhine-Weser, was beside herself with joy that I had come to represent London and join in the celebrations.

The clubhouse is absolutely amazing and we are certainly extremely envious.

We have donated one of our club flags and a few original prints by one of our founders and life member Stolk, which were immediately put in place of honour so London now has a corner of the Rhine-Weser clubhouse claimed!

I also took this as a gift from us to them

A grand evening was had by all, including some of the neighbours, which is great to see.

The next day was church and I joined the grrrls for their meeting. An early start on Monday for the return journey to get the ferry back to UK… it rained most of the way.. oh well, but a fabulous weekend all the same.
